Punkin

Yes, like Pumpkin if it were both spelled and pronounced incorrectly. Punks takes her role as farm watch dog very seriously, so don’t be alarmed or offended if she makes a commotion every time you arrive. She is (almost) all bark. Punkin is naturally aloof and will decide she likes you on her own terms, but feel free to bring her a cookie if you wish to speed things along.

Punkin spends her time lurking in dark, dirty places, and defending the honor of her chickens from the local fox population.

Casper & Dash

Look out for FBF’s resident Nigerian Dwarf goats when you visit- they’re free roaming and usually up to something.

Casper and Dash are super friendly and are always down for a head scratch. You can typically find them sunbathing, trying to sneak into the barn aisle, or stealing food from horses, chickens, and children alike.

The Flock

FBF maintains a flock of 12-20 hens and one rooster at a time. Starting with a group of hand-raised “Easter Egger” chicks from Tractor Supply, you can now find Polish, Ameraucana, Silkie, ISA Brown, and Leghorn chickens all living free range on the farm, cleaning up after the horses and helping to control the bugs.

Look for Sloth, Queen Sunshine, Harriet, and Pistachio- the friendliest of the bunch and our oldest hens. We currently have one rooster, born on the farm in the spring of 2022. He keeps to himself and looks out for the flock. Please help us keep him friendly by not chasing him or his hens.
